The assignment was to develop souvenir concepts for Karlatornet with the goal of attracting more tourism. The ambition was to make “The View” feel like a natural part of visiting Gothenburg — in the same way that Liseberg or Haga are places people automatically associate with the city.

I created colourful, sunset-inspired illustrations highlighting the height of The View. One for example shows a family looking up at the tower from below, emphasizing its scale and sense of wonder. The artwork was applied to souvenirs turning the experience of the view into something tangible, a memory visitors can bring home.

I started by looking at what Karlatornet wanted to achieve: attracting more tourists and making The View feel like something you naturally include when visiting Gothenburg. From there, I began sketching in Procreate. I experimented with strong perspectives to really show how tall and powerful the tower feels. The sunset sky became important early on.

Adding a father and son added emotion and made the image feel like a shared moment rather than just a building. Once the image felt right, I adapted it in Illustrator so it would work well on different formats like prints and mugs.
